Travel Information + Helpful Notes

To help you prepare for the Maars Netherlands Tour, we’ve gathered a few helpful travel notes related to attire, weather, connectivity, local customs, and day-to-day logistics.

Dress Code

Please plan for business casual attire, similar to what you would wear to the office or a standard client meeting. Comfortable clothing and walking shoes are recommended, and you may want to bring more than one pair of shoes.

Weather

Weather in the Netherlands is generally mild, with occasional light rain and wind. Heat spells can happen, so please check the forecast the week before departure and pack accordingly.

Medications

If you regularly use specific medications or over-the-counter items such as aspirin or allergy medicine, please pack them in advance. Similar items are available locally, but they may be EU versions.

Power Adapters

The Netherlands uses 230V power and Type F electrical outlets. Most outlets are rounded and recessed, so please make sure your adapter is designed to fit into a recessed outlet.

You should only need a plug adapter, not a voltage converter, for most modern electronics such as phones, laptops, and chargers.

Phone + Data

Consider purchasing an EU data plan from your cell provider before departure. These can often be added through your provider’s app and typically cover a short travel period.

Walking + Bike Paths

The Netherlands is very bike-friendly, and bike paths are common. These are often light brown in color.

Please avoid walking or standing in bike paths. This will be especially clear in Harderwijk, but may be more difficult to identify in larger cities.

You should also expect some uneven walking surfaces, including cobblestones, small curbs, and varied entry heights. Comfortable shoes are strongly recommended.

Cards + Cash

Most cards are widely accepted in Amsterdam, and many businesses prefer card payments over cash in more populated areas.

If you need cash, ATMs are generally the best option for consistent and reliable exchange rates.
